Towson University vs Stony Brook University Women's Basketball Game on 2/16/25 by Jack Cohen

 

It was a great CAA battle between these two teams today.

The Towson Tigers women's basketball team secured a 59-52 victory over the Stony Brook Seawolves on February 16, 2025, at Secu Arena in Towson, Maryland. The Tigers established an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead 17-9. Despite a closely contested game, Towson maintained their advantage throughout, outscoring Stony Brook in three of the four quarters. This win brings Towson's overall record to 8-16 and their conference record to 6-7 in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA), while Stony Brook falls to 11-13 overall and 6-7 in the CAA. 

This victory follows Towson's resilient 63-51 comeback win over Hofstra on February 14, 2025, where the Tigers overcame a nine-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Pride 39-18 in the second half.

Towson had 3 players with double digit points including Deja Bristol with 16, Anasia Staton with 15 and India Johnston with 12.

Towson went 6-13 (46.2%) from 3. Johnston and Staton both had 2 while Leye and Diakite had 1.

The Tigers will look to build on this momentum as they face Northeastern on February 21, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Orioles Offseason Recap by Josh Solomon

The Orioles' off-seasons in the past few years have had their ups and downs, and this year was no different. Going into the off-season, the Orioles aimed to add right-handed hitting depth and some quality pitching to compensate for (at the time, most likely) losing their ace, Corbin Burnes.  The most notable offseason news was Corbin Burnes, one of the best pitchers in baseball, leaving for Arizona. A few notable players from the Orioles decided to test free agency, including long-time Oriole John Means, veteran catcher James McCann, and Eloy Jiménez, who after a brief stint with the Orioles, signed a contract with the Rays this off-season. Both Means and McCann have yet to sign with a team as of the time this article was written.
