LAST MINUTE Free Agency Acquisitions for the Nationals by Noah Kravitz

So good to see some Nationals Baseball as the team put together a 6-3 Spring Training victory vs. Houston      There’s always a weird feeling to watch some baseball on the television after not having to watch some for the last few months. But our favorite sport is finally back, as the Washington Nationals put together an impressive 6-3 win versus the Astros. Led by top quality pitching, and impressive performances from younger players, those are the types of formulas Nats manager Davey Martinez wants to see translate to wins in the regular season.  The Nationals are ready to get the 2025 season started. Almost All-Star the season before Jake Irvin was the starting pitcher yesterday. Went a respectful one inning and was very efficient throwing a grand total of 8 pitches. There is a ton of hope for Jake Irvin to become one of the Nationals most reliable starting pitchers this season. Martinez is hoping for Irvin to pick back where he left off in t...

Looking Back on John Means' Baltimore Orioles Tenure by Patrick Moran

On the day of writing this article, left-handed pitcher John Means signed with the Cleveland Guardians on a one-year deal for 2025 and a club option for 2026. This ends his tenure in Baltimore, which was a long lasting one to say the least. Means was a light in what felt like an eternity of darkness during the Orioles rebuild under Mike Elias, a friendly face everyone knew and liked, a steady presence on weak baseball teams. Now, he marks as the last name that survived that rebuild. After beating Stage 3 Colon Cancer and having 1.5 solid seasons back in Baltimore, Trey Mancini was dealt to the Houston Astros during the 2022 trade deadline and helped them win a World Series. He's now in camp competing for a roster spot with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Austin Hays followed suit in 2024 by being traded to the Philadelphia Phillies for reliever Seranthony Dominguez, which wound up being a good deal for Baltimore. Hays is now with Cincinnati after being non-tendered this o...

What Can We Expect from the National's New Look Rotation in 2025? by Noah Kravitz

Looking Back on the 2019 Rotation and Looking Forward to the 2025 Rotation NOAH KRAVITZ           It's fair to point out that the starting rotation for the Nats throughout the last few years have been very eerie for fans to watch.            During the magical World Series run in the year 2019, the team had arguably the best mix of starting pitchers that they ever had. A main three of Max Scherzer, Stephen Strasburg, and Patrick Corbin. Followed by Anibal Sanchez who was signed to a 2-year deal that offseason, with a combination of Joe Ross and Erick Fedde to fill in the final spot. Those six pitchers combined an ERA that season of 3.88, a very encouraging stat as their mix of pitchers were a big reason the Nationals defied all odds and were winners of the Fall Classic in 2019.            Looking back on that season (as well as years before), it’s easy to feel teared up most of the time t...

Towson University vs Stony Brook University Women's Basketball Game on 2/16/25 by Jack Cohen

University of Maryland Baseball Season is Underway by Patrick Moran

Maryland baseball is back and better than ever.  The Dirty Terps are back! Feels so good to say. And let me tell you, it's shaping up to be a great year. It may not feel like Baseball weather right now, but the season has already begun. The Big Ten may be a rigorous conference to play in, however these guys are up to the task. The Terps have always had a solid baseball program, and while you may think of the powerhouse schools first in the SEC like Vanderbilt, Florida, LSU, and Tennessee, as well as other schools out west like Texas A&M and Oregon State among others, Maryland should be on your radar. They've produced talented big leaguers like Tampa Bay Rays infielder Brandon Lowe, who has produced when healthy and Lamonte Wade JR, an above average first baseman for the San Fransico Giants as well as Matt Shaw, who is a top 40 prospect in the game with the Chicago Cubs and is primed to earn the starting third base job as he carries a prolific bat with him to spring camp. I ...

Where Do the Orioles Stack Up in Their Division and the Rest of the League? by Dylan Lewis

With free agency coming to a close and all 30 MLB teams’ rosters taking shape, fans and analysts can only think about the 2025 opening day of the MLB season. After a historic 2024 season, that saw Shohei Ohtani create the 50/50 club, highly touted pitcher Paul Skenes win NL Rookie of the Year, and a team from Queens comeback from 11 games under .500 to make it 2 games short of going to the World Series, the pressure is on for the expectations of this year’s competition. While many look towards the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, and New York Yankees because of their offseason additions, the underlying teams in the AL East have made a name for themselves this winter too. My question is, where do the Orioles stack up after an underwhelming, and somewhat disappointing offseason? The Orioles are hoping to follow up a 91-win season in a positive way  Mike Elias has made it clear that he values young talent the most and showed that after not going for top...

Top Ten MLB Prospects on I-95 by Patrick Moran

The Orioles and Nationals have had great stars run through the DMV/Baltimore area, like Manny Machado, Bryce Harper, and Stephen Strasburg in the 2010s as well as Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson, and James Wood and others that have been on the rise recently. Through all of it, have you ever stopped to think about where these guys started? All these names heard their names called on draft day in the first/second round and were highly touted prospects featured at the top of prospect rankings before they reached the big leagues. So, for this exercise, let's look at the top ten prospects combined between the Orioles and Nationals. Even though they have graduated three number one prospects in the past three years such as catcher Adley Rutschman, shortstop Gunnar Henderson, and second baseman/shortstop Jackson Holliday in that order, as well as everyday left fielder Colton Cowser, the system still remains in the top ten at number six according to FanGraphs, ...
