The Washington Commanders have secured their star wideout, signing Terry McLaurin to a three-year, $96 million extension that makes him one of the NFL’s top-paid receivers. McLaurin is coming off a career year—82 catches, 1,096 yards, and a franchise-record 13 touchdowns—cementing his status as the heart of the Commanders’ offense.      Despite earning an All-Star nod and carrying a 3.02 ERA in the first half, MacKenzie Gore is no longer the Washington Nationals' ace. That distinction now belongs to an unexpected name — former 18th round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft Brad Lord.      Brad Lord has been a feel-good story for Washington this year.      In a season where the Nationals have suffered so much on the negative side, it should be appropriate to acknowledge some of the positives out of this season so far. The 25-year-old right-hander is definitely one of those. Lord was moved back into the starting rotation after the Michael Soroka trade to the Chicago Cubs. It was a special day at Camden Yards on August ninth. While the11-3 loss at the hands of the Athletics was depressing, it didn't take away from the pregame ceremony honoring three new members joining the Orioles Hall of Fame. Those names longtime MASN favorite Tom Davis, blue collar outfielder Joe Orsulak, and fan-favorite prolific center fielder Adam Jones. All three of these guys have made a significant impact on the Orioles organization, both on and off the field, and this honor was well deserved across the board. Tom Davis has been covering the Orioles since the 1970s. He is a true native of the Baltimore Area, being a Calvert Hall College High School '66 alum and University of Baltimore '71 graduate.      The NFL Draft took place from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and the Baltimore Ravens walked away beyond happy with their new crop of talent. The Flock had 11 picks to work with, and while I won't mention all of them, I wanted to highlight the selections they made within the first two rounds, who were Georgia Safety Malaki Starks 27th overall and Marshall Edge Mike Green 59th overall. It seems to happen every year where a defensive player that fits the Raven's model falls into their lap, and these guys were no different. Baltimore had a very strong class this year, but Starks and Green made it special because of the value they can offer.
