The Terps on Dirt are Losing Pieces; How Do They Readjust? by Patrick Moran

The Maryland Terrapins’ baseball team has a lot of questions. After a middle of the pack season for head coach Matt Swope’s squad in College Mark, MD, the core is mostly gone. Star infielder Chris Hacopian has transferred to Texas A&M to play SEC ball. Tall southpaw Kyle McCoy has a good chance of getting drafted. Veterans Eddie Hacopian and Alex Calarco have graduated. So how do they recoup? Let’s find out.  The Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium in College Park, MD. The Terps finished 14th in the Big Ten at 12-18 and 27-29 overall. Neither of these marks qualified for the Big Ten tournament to potentially compete for a spot at Omaha in the College World Series.  It was a different year for the conference considering schools like Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington finished at the top of the division. They had not been in the Big Ten previously, but with the PAC-12 dissolving, it shook up the picture for what the conference looked like this past year.  In terms of hitting, the ...

After Major Organizational Shakeup, Nationals Land Potential Star Shortstop Eli Willits with the First Overall Selection in 2025 Draft by Noah Kravitz

Just days after parting ways with the team’s leaders Mike Rizzo and Dave Martinez, the Washington Nationals made another bold statement with the first overall pick in the 2025 draft. The team took high school shortstop Eli Willits, the youngest player ever to be taken with the top pick.  This selection brought some shock to the baseball world as most were expecting college southpaw Kade Anderson from LSU or the son of a baseball legend [Matt Holliday] Ethan Holliday to be the pick.  The Nationals go with shortstop Eli Willits out of high school in Oklahoma with the number one pick While it’s no doubt that those prospects offered a more immediate impact, the Nationals decision to select Willits, the youngest No. 1 pick in MLB history, demonstrates a commitment to the team’s overall vision long-term. They hope to develop him into a cornerstone player that can provide a very advanced skillset at still a very young age. Not every day you see a ...

Washington Commanders Unveil Super Bowl Era Alternate Uniforms by Daniel Solomon

After months of speculation and on the team's 93rd birthday, it's here. Washington has unveiled its new alternate uniforms for the 2025-2026 season, a throwback to the Super Bowl era under coach Joe Gibbs during the 1980s and 1990s when the team won three titles in 1982, 1987, and 1991.      The helmet notably features a gold facemask, something that has been sorely missed since the rebrand several years ago. The new uniform will debut on field November second in the week nine matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football. It will reappear twice more on November 30th against the Denver Broncos and more notably for a Christmas Matchup against division rival Dallas Cowboys.      Washington Commanders' president Mark Claus remarked "These uniforms honor the most successful era of our franchise- one that reflects a culture of excellence and encompasses many historical moments and special memories among our fanbase. We look fo...
